The 99 Greatest Works of Latin American Literature

This selection of literature from Latin Americais base d on the continuing research carried out for The Greatest Literature of All Time list and is additionally informed by the views of local readers, writers, critics and scholars.

It encompasses the greatest works of Latin American authors in all forms, genres, cultures and periods.

All possible genres, cultures and periods in the literature of that area have been taken into account.

Note, Caribbean countries, which are sometimes considered part of Latin America, are not included here as the Caribbean has its own greatest literature list.

The Greatest Latin Amderican Literature list focuses on major creative—mainly fictional—works, although some shorter or nonfiction writing of literary or historical significance may also be considered.
