The Greatest Nonfiction by Genre
When readers and publishers speak of "genres", they're usually referring to fictional genres, like mysteries or science fiction. But the term can also refer to kinds of nonfiction.
Nonfiction genres are most often set by subject matter. Biographies are about people's life stories. Histories deal with people and events in history. Science writing delves into scientific theory and discovery. And so on.
Each of these genres can also be broken into more specialized categories—or subgenres. Under science, we may consider groupings of works on biology, chemistry or physics, for example, and studies on the history or philosophy of science.
Nonfictional genres can also overlap, so you may find a nonfiction title on multiple lists.
